NOTICE OF RACE
1. RULES
1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
2 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
3 There will be special Covid-19 rules. The special Covid-19 rules will be published in the Sailing Instructions
2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 Competitors shall comply with World Sailing Eligibility Code (Regulation 19).
2.2 For the 49er gender is open. For the 49erFX gender is female.
2.3 This championship is open only to teams that are qualified and selected to Tokyo Olympic Games in on 49er and 49erFx class. Another teams may register to participate.
2.4 Entries should be received by the Organizing Authority no later than 24h before the opening of the race office.
2.5 Eligible competitors can enter by submitting the registration form on www.cncascais.com
2.6 The entries are limited to 21 49erFX boats and 19 boats 49er.
2.7 If some spots are available other teams that registered for this event will be selected in order of 2021 Cascais International Week Act I ranking(May event).
3. FEES
Entry Fees are 175€ per boat
4. FORMAT OF RACING.
4.1 The Championships will consist of an Opening Series in single fleet for 49er and 49er FX and one medal race
4.2 There are 12 Races Scheduled. No more than 4 races will be sailed per day.
4.3 Medal race
4.3.1 A Medal Race will only be schedule if 6 or more opening series races are completed for each class.
4.3.2 The Ten highest ranked boats a the conclusion of the opening series of each class will advance to the Medal Race.
5. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
5.1 Saturday, June 6th Venue opens

5.2 On the last day there will be no warning signal after 1600.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

8. THE COURSES
Courses will be;
For 49er and 49erFX - windward/leeward with a gate at the leeward end of the course.
9. PENALTY SYSTEM
RRS 44.1 and RRS P2.1 are changed so that the Two-Turns penalty is replaced by a One-Turn penalty.
10. SCORING
1 The Low Points Scoring System of RRS Appendix A will apply to the Opening Series and a Medal Race.
2 At least 1 races are required to constitute the Championship.
11. SAFETY
In the event of an emergency the meeting point for safety personnel and the dropping off point for safety boats coming from the racing area will be at the main pier of Clube Naval de Cascais.
12. PRIZES
Prizes for the Championships will be announced and awarded at the end of Racing for the first three places overall.
13. RADIO COMMUNICATION
Except in an emergency a boat shall neither make nor receive radio transmissions, text messages or cellular phone calls while racing.
14. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall have valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of at least Euro 1,500,000 (or equivalent) per incident.
15. RISK STATEMENT
RRS 4 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.”
Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:
a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;
b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;
c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omission;
d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;
e) The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organizer does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;
f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.
g) It is their responsibility to familiarize themselves with any risks specific to this venue or this event drawn to their attention in any rules and information produced for the event and to attend any competitor briefing held for this event.
16. MEDIA RIGHTS, CAMERAS AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
16.1 Where consent for imagery has been given by a competitor participating in the Championship, competitors grant to the Organizing Authority and their sponsors, the right in perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of the athlete during the period of competition without compensation.
16.2 Boats may be required to carry cameras, sound equipment or positioning equipment as specified by the Organizing Authority.
